An Important Milestone at the ISTA Campus in Klosterneuburg
17. March 2026
The structural work on the new service building has been successfully completed — and the traditional topping-out ceremony was celebrated together with all project participants.
The service building will play a central role in logistics and infrastructure on the campus of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA). With approximately 550 m² of usable space, the building brings together key service functions for the steadily growing research hub – currently home to around 90 research groups, with plans to expand to up to 150 groups by 2036.
Particularly noteworthy is the sustainable and functional building design:
A reinforced concrete structure for the equipment hall on the ground floor combined with a solid wood structure on the upper floor for the staff areas. A wood-slat façade and a continuous band of windows define the architectural appearance. A rooftop photovoltaic system covers a large portion of the energy requirements for the heat pump and ventilation.
💬 Martin Lechner, Project Manager at DELTA:
“In the future, key infrastructure and service functions for the growing research site will be consolidated across approximately 550 m²—including an equipment hall, garages, storage areas, silos, and office space for operations management. In my view, this is a very successful, sustainably designed project—congratulations to everyone involved on reaching this project milestone! We are proud to be able to contribute our part as Project Control together with our consortium partner VIVITimmo GmbH and thank them for the collaborative partnership.”
