BG53 voestalpine Stahl GmbH: A forward-looking hybrid building, designed by DELTA in collaboration with the Architecture division Delta Pods Architects

With its new plant building 53, voestalpine Stahl GmbH is setting a strong example for sustainable industrial buildings of the next generation. Within the DELTA Group, we acted as general planner for this project and were responsible for architecture, planning, tendering, awarding and invoicing, construction supervision, and cost and schedule control. The building was completed in fall 2025.

The new building was constructed as a hybrid structure and stores 132 tons of CO₂ – a clear sign of climate-conscious industrial construction. BG53 comprises two flexibly usable office floors with a spacious central area and another floor with modern changing rooms for workers.

Architectural concept: combining tradition and innovation

The facade of BG53 is a striking example of the interplay between material precision and ecological standards. The design concept was developed by Tobias Ziegelmeyer (Lead Architecture Wels, Delta Pods Architects):

“This colofer® facade symbolizes a bridge between tradition and innovation. The metal colors embody technical progress and durability, while wood, as a sustainable building material, underscores the ecological aspirations of the project. The façade becomes an expression of a building that is both rooted in the present and designed for the future. The Concept is inspired by light reflections, material depth, and the interplay of surfaces, similar to overlapping metal panels or the faceted surfaces of technical objects.”
