Campus Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy Ried wins BIG SEE Award

Tobias Ziegelmeyer, Lead Architecture Wels, was honored to present his flagship project in Portorož in the “Public and Administration Buildings” category.
Thank you for organizing this international event, thank you to the jury for selecting the project, and thank you to the client for the great cooperation in the planning and construction process.
An open culture of communication enabled challenges to be identified at an early stage and solutions to be developed. A key concern of the client, the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy in Ried, was sustainable construction. In close consultation with all planners, a timber construction using local “BauBuche” wood was chosen to minimize the ecological footprint. The client’s involvement in the choice of materials and technical planning ensured an optimal balance between ecology, economy, and long-term operational efficiency.
