Grand Opening of the Reconstructed 14th Floor of the Haemato-Oncology Clinic at University Hospital Brno

University Hospital Brno has officially inaugurated the newly reconstructed 14th floor of the Department of Internal Medicine, Haematology and Oncology at University Hospital Brno and the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University. DELTA Group CZ was involved throughout the entire project as the designer – from the preparation of design documentation at the planning permission stage (equivalent to building permit design) and construction documentation stage, through engineering services, to design supervision.

The result is a modernised ward that fully meets the demands of contemporary medicine. The reconstruction delivered 5 intensive care beds, 5 transplantation beds and 43 standard beds, all within an environment designed with a strong emphasis on functionality, safety and comfort for both patients and medical staff.

The project was funded through the “National Recovery and Resilience Plan” and was carried out in two phases in order to minimise disruption to the clinic’s highly specialised care. Among the technical highlights was a unique method of transporting concrete to the 14th floor – using specialised pumping equipment through window openings, which represented an exceptionally demanding construction process.

“This is another item on the long list of University Hospital Brno facilities requiring major reconstruction or refurbishment to meet today’s standards. This extraordinarily costly investment has been made possible primarily through co-financing from an EU grant programme,” said the Director of University Hospital Brno, MUDr. Ivo Rovný, MBA.
