Green building & DELTA
26. November 2024
The sustainability strategy for the projects of the real estate service provider DELTA is based on the six environmental goals of the EU taxonomy. These goals not only serve as a cornerstone for planning and implementation, but also help to determine certain key performance indicators (KPIs) to make sustainability measurable and buildings more comparable.
In this context, the continuous training of employees at the DELTA Academy is of great importance. All sustainability criteria are taught here to ensure that, on the one hand, each team member has the necessary knowledge and skills and, on the other hand, that they are able to implement them for the client and the DELTA Group in accordance with the associated goals.
The main objective is to reduce the carbon footprint and decarbonise both the construction and long-term operation. This requires a rethink and a very differentiated approach, especially when considering existing buildings. Here it is necessary to tailor each measure individually to the respective building, but also to weigh it up carefully in terms of costs and benefits (including CO₂ improvement potential) in conjunction with other measures. Only in this way can we meet the requirements of the taxonomy and at the same time offer economically viable solutions.
Buildings should also be designed for flexible use and recyclability. This is another reason why DELTA has been pushing the planning and implementation of timber structures in recent years. Wood offers significant advantages due to its low carbon footprint, high modularity and flexibility in its life cycle. With the right design approach, essential building elements can be reused or returned to nature at the end of their life cycle without ending up as hazardous waste.
