Healing Architecture at DELTA Lab: When Spaces Shape Health
04. May 2026
On April 30, we had the opportunity to discuss a highly relevant topic as part of our DELTA Lab: Healing Architecture – how architecture influences health and recovery.
Together with our keynote speakers and numerous engaged participants, we explored the central question:
What impact do spaces have on our physical and psychological well-being?
The perspectives were intentionally diverse – ranging from scientific insights in environmental medicine to practical experience from hospital operations, as well as architectural and sustainable solution approaches:
Hans-Peter Hutter, Head of the Department of Environmental Hygiene and Environmental Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, demonstrated impressively how strongly our built environment affects health and the potential of conscious spatial design.
Martin Steiner, Managing Director of Franziskus Hospital, provided insights into practice and the challenges of implementing Healing Architecture during ongoing operations.
Markus Hiden, Managing Director of Delta Pods Architects, highlighted the project “Elisabethines Vienna Center” as an example of the successful integration of existing structures and modern architecture.
Lukas Clementschitsch, Head of Sustainability / Consulting at DELTA Group, explained how healthy building can be embedded as an integral part of holistic project development.
What remains is a clear takeaway:
Architecture is far more than design – it is an active factor in health, well-being, and sustainable quality of life.
The open exchange afterwards was particularly valuable – with inspiring discussions, new perspectives, and the shared conviction that an integral and cooperative approach is key to future-proof healthcare buildings.
Many thanks to Wolfgang Kradischnig (CEO, DELTA AG) for moderating, as well as to all speakers and guests for this inspiring evening. Following the DELTA Lab, discussions and celebrations continued extensively at the DELTA Afterwork Clubbing with DELTA partners, clients, and colleagues.
