Horácká Arena Project in Final Phase: Construction Coordination worth €76 Million

DELTA Group CZ, in collaboration with FETTERS management, is successfully completing the comprehensive project management and construction supervision of one of the most significant sports projects in the Vysočina Region – the Horácká Multifunctional Arena in Jihlava. The project, valued at 1.91 billion CZK excluding VAT (76 million euros), is entering its final phase with a clearly defined completion schedule.

The multifunctional arena with variable capacity from 1,200 seats for exhibitions up to 7,450 seats for concerts represents a unique combination of sports, cultural, and urban infrastructure. The sports configuration offers 5,750 seats including 680 standing places. The complex consists of four buildings on a built-up area of 6,120 m² with a gross floor area of over 5,600 m² for the main building.

Key completion dates:

• Façade was completed by the end of August 2025
• Building approval and handover will take place on October 9, 2025
• First hockey match will be held on October 25, 2025
• Official grand opening of the arena is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025

The architectural design by the renowned CHYBÍK+KRYŠTOF studio is based on the winning proposal from the 2019 architectural competition. The project represents a connection of sports, cultural, and urban infrastructure that redefines the public space of Jihlava’s city center. The general contractor for the construction is GEMO company.

• 4 barrier-free changing rooms
• Spaces for public skating and children’s corner
• Hall of fame and fan shop
• 8 catering establishments and brewery
• Accommodation for up to 60 guests
• Gym and gymnasium for public use
• Outdoor running track on the roof for public use

State-of-the-art technical equipment:

• 360° LED boards – first of their kind in the Czech Republic
• LED dasher board and LED central cube
• Most modern audio technology

The technical solution of the arena includes a number of unique elements. Part of the project is a steel roof structure with a 63-meter span – one of the most technically demanding constructions of its kind in the Czech Republic. The elliptical shape of the building required special structural solutions as a synthesis of monolithic reinforced concrete, prefabricated concrete elements, and steel roofing construction.

DELTA Group CZ ensures key activities in the project including project management, construction supervision, coordination of all construction processes, and technical supervision for the investor. Coordination of construction works in Jihlava’s city center presented an extraordinary logistical challenge that was successfully handled while minimizing impacts on city life.

The characteristic red tribunes made of pigmented concrete and the red façade of the main arena, which was completed in August, contrast with the silver façade of the corner building. The final façade elements consist of perforated aluminum panels supported by secondary steel construction.

“Maintaining the construction price within the tendered budget represents a key challenge for the entire team. We are keeping within the planned financial limits, which I consider a significant success of the entire project team. On this construction site, we have managed to create a truly partnership-based project culture where all participants – investor, architects, designers, contractors, and future operator – are pulling together. Instead of looking for culprits, we are jointly looking for solutions, which significantly contributes to the efficiency of the entire process,” states Josef Prokeš, project manager from DELTA Group CZ.

“The goal of the entire project team is to manage this complex sports construction with emphasis on adherence to the time schedule, budget, and the highest quality standards of execution, and we are succeeding so far.”

The Horácká Arena will become a symbol of a new era of Jihlava’s development and a center of cultural and social life for the entire Vysočina Region. With the approaching building approval date in October 2025 and the first hockey match at the end of October, the project is entering its most anticipated phase. The official grand opening in November 2025 will culminate more than two years of effort by all involved parties and present to the public the new landmark of the city of Jihlava.
