Nadija – Children’s Foundation is an international Scandinavian initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive support system for children and young people who have suffered physical and psychological trauma as a result of the war.

The initiative combines a children’s hospital and rehabilitation centre in Lviv, a virtual hospital providing psychological support to children across Ukraine, and a research institute focused on childhood trauma, psychology, and mental health.

Project Highlights

• Nadija Children’s Hospital and Research Institute is being developed as an integrated ecosystem for medical treatment, rehabilitation, psychological support, and research into the effects of childhood trauma.
• The architectural concept for the physical hospital was developed by the Finnish architecture practice JKMM Architects. The concept reimagines the traditional image of a healthcare facility, creating a calm and child-friendly environment designed as a small village with gardens and dedicated spaces for recovery, play, communication, and family support.
• The hospital in Lviv will provide care for children with complex physical and psychological trauma, combining medical treatment, rehabilitation, and mental health support.
• The virtual hospital will extend access to psychological care for children and their families regardless of their location. The research institute will advance knowledge in the fields of childhood trauma, psychology, mental health, and related medical research.
• DELTA Ukraine is adapting the international architectural concept to Ukrainian construction regulations and healthcare requirements, transforming it into a coordinated design ready for approval and implementation.
• The project is being developed in accordance with the principles of accessibility, safety, and sustainability, with particular attention given to creating a comfortable and therapeutic environment for children, their families, and medical staff.
