Project Management for one of Europe’s Leading Orthopedic Centers
For more than two decades, DELTA has been supporting the Speising Orthopedic Hospital in Vienna in the ongoing development of its historic hospital site. As project manager, DELTA, together with SANTESIS Technical Building Management & Service GmbH, is responsible for overseeing numerous renovation, refurbishment, and modernization projects for the Vinzenz Group, thereby making a significant contribution to the future-oriented development of hospital operations.
The Speising Orthopedic Hospital is one of the largest and most renowned specialized clinics for musculoskeletal disorders and pain in Europe. As a religious hospital within the Vinzenz Clinics Vienna network, it combines top-tier medical care with a holistic treatment approach – ranging from conservative orthopedics and highly specialized surgeries to rehabilitation, geriatrics, and pediatric orthopedics. Approximately 900 employees care for about 52,000 patients annually, perform around 10,000 to 13,000 surgeries, and manage 280 beds.
The historic hospital site looks back on more than a century of history. The hospital has been located in Vienna-Speising for about 70 years. The historic, protected complex – with its church and extensive green spaces – poses unique challenges for any construction project.
DELTA has been supporting the site’s construction development since 2000. This includes the completion of the comprehensive renovation in 2009 as well as numerous expansion, conversion, and extension projects in recent years. Most recently, a new recovery room was completed in October 2025, and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was completed in July 2026.
Project execution takes place entirely while the hospital remains in operation. This requires maintaining medical processes at all times, adhering to the highest hygiene standards, and precisely coordinating sensitive areas. At the same time, the goal is to carefully develop the historically protected existing structures and integrate modern medical infrastructure into the existing building framework.
With decades of experience in the healthcare sector, DELTA is supporting the client in gradually adapting this historic hospital site to future medical requirements – economically, sustainably, and without restrictions for patients and staff.
