BIM at DELTA: Innovation, efficiency and sustainability in project planning

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has long been more than just a trend – it has already arrived in the construction and real estate industry. At DELTA, we have established BIM as an integral part of our way of working and use it to make projects more efficient, sustainable and collaborative. With a team of 100 BIM modellers and 20 BIM experts, consisting of BIM coordinators, overall BIM coordinators and BIM project management specialists, we realize projects that set standards.

What is BIM?

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an integral and interdisciplinary method for planning, constructing and managing buildings. The result is a digital building model that provides all relevant data and information over the entire life cycle of a building. This model enables transparent, precise and sustainable project planning.

At DELTA, we not only use BIM in the planning phase, but also support projects beyond the construction phase and into operation. Our aim is to use BIM to ensure seamless collaboration and end-to-end optimization of processes.

Why BIM?

Traditional 2D planning is reaching its limits in modern construction projects. Problems such as inadequate visualization options, data inconsistencies and incomplete documentation can lead to delays, errors and additional costs.

BIM revolutionizes this process:

  • Visual precision: A clear presentation of information facilitates decision-making.
  • Efficient collaboration: The central data model improves collaboration between different trades.
  • Sustainability: ecological factors can be taken into account as early as the planning phase in order to minimize the carbon footprint.

Advantages of BIM at DELTA

Our BIM projects

DELTA has already successfully implemented numerous projects using BIM, creating the basis for sustainable and future-proof buildings. Examples include

  • BMW Group Future Mobility Development Center, Sokolov: A state-of-the-art test center with a focus on automated driving and parking, optimized by precise digital twins – with DELTA as BIM general planner-
  • Stoob road maintenance depot: Landesimmobilien Burgenland GmbH (LIB) built a new base for road maintenance in Stoob. Efficient planning and implementation using the latest BIM standards enabled the digital visualization of all architectural, technical, physical and functional building data – with DELTA as BIM general planner.
  • District administration Seekirchen: An office made of wood: The visualization of construction and material was a key theme  of the “Seekirchen” project, which was developed over a three-year period in cooperation between DELTA (architecture team in Wels) and SWAP Architects. Interdisciplinary collaboration led to optimized project execution and smooth processes – with DELTA as BIM general planner.
  • Vltava Philharmonic Hall Prague: The project management and coordination of this important building is being carried out by a consortium led by DELTA in collaboration with partners JE Group and FETTERS Management. The DELTA team is carrying out the BIM coordination and consulting activities and defining the BIM requirements for the subsequent project phases.

Our BIM strategy and vision

DELTA’s BIM strategy is based on a clear vision: to further expand the efficiency, accuracy and integration of BIM processes and consolidate our position as a strong BIM player in the market.

Our goals:

  • Continuous work on our international Revit standard
  • Continuous development of the Revit skills of all modelers
  • Integration of AI solutions to optimize project execution and make better use of data models
  • Expansion of our interdisciplinary team through targeted recruitment of specialists
  • Strengthening cooperation with partners, particularly in the area of technical building equipment (TGA)

Priorities 2025

The coming years at DELTA will be characterized by growth and further development. Our most important goals include

  • Strengthening the BIM team: building an even more powerful team of internal and external experts
  • BIM services and projects: Expansion of our BIM services and acquisition of new BIM projects.
  • Increasing efficiency through AI: using innovative technologies to optimize processes and make better use of data models.
  • DELTA standards: Further development of internal standards and quality assurance for compliance with international requirements.

BIM and sustainability

At DELTA, sustainability is firmly anchored in our BIM approach. By integrating the so-called 6th dimension into our models, we can evaluate and reduce the ecological footprint of our projects. This dimension enables a detailed analysis of materials, energy consumption and life cycle costs – essential for sustainable construction planning.

Conclusion: Shaping the future with BIM

BIM is not just a method, but a central component of our mission to realize sustainable and future-proof construction projects. DELTA uses the potential of BIM to save time, resources and costs while maximizing quality and sustainability.
