The Moldova Philharmonic in Prague Enters the Approval Phase – Project control led by the DELTA Group

The application for project approval for the Vltavská filharmonie – known in German-speaking countries as the Moldau Philharmonic Prague – has been submitted. For the project, which is being developed by the City of Prague and coordinated by the Prague Development Company (Pražská developerská společnost), this marks a decisive step toward its realization. The DJF consortium – comprising the DELTA Group as the lead partner, FETTERS management, and JE Group – is responsible for Project Control and coordination. These are the services without which the professional preparation and implementation of construction projects of this scale would not be possible.

Three days just to submit the documents

The upload of the project documentation began on August 27 and, due to its size, took three days. This figure alone speaks volumes about the scale of the project: The documentation covers not only the building of the future national music center – with five concert halls, a creative hub, dining facilities, and ancillary spaces -but also the redesign of public spaces, transportation infrastructure, and adjacent structures.

The construction site is located at one of Prague’s most challenging transportation hubs. The project addresses connections to the metro, tram, and private vehicles, as well as to pedestrian and bike paths, and requires coordination with other major investments in the area.

Where Project Control Comes In

The complexity of the documentation reflects the complexity of the project itself. This is precisely where the task of project control begins: bringing together dozens of specialized teams, coordinating the interfaces between Architecture, acoustics, structural engineering, building services, transportation, and public space, ensuring the proper sequence of individual phases, and making sure that thousands of individual solutions form a consistent whole by the time of submission. For projects of this scale, professional Project Management is not an optional service but a prerequisite for success.

An extensive international team of architects, specialist planners, engineers, acousticians, and other specialists is working on the preparations. The architectural design was created by the Danish firm BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group. Part of the preparatory work also involves coordinating the requirements of the building’s future primary users – the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK), and the music department of the Prague City Library.

As the lead partner of the consortium, we ensure that the individual processes, phases, and decisions are seamlessly integrated so that the project moves forward. Working on a project that prepares Prague for future generations is both a commitment and a source of pride for us,” says Zbyněk Kovář, authorized signatory of DELTA Group CZ.

From Approval to Construction Start

The project permit is expected to be granted in the first quarter of 2027. This will be followed by the award of the contract to the General Contractor. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2028, and trial operations at the Vltava Philharmonic are set to begin in 2033.
